For the first review I will look at one of the services the mobile network 3 provides in the UK and Australia. The phone I am using is the Nokia N73. This is podcasting on your mobile phone through the 3 network which gives you UNLIMITED access to these X-Series services for £5-10 pounds.
Ok people heres my first review of one of the applications that comes preinstalled with the X-Series: Mobilcast. Mobilcast is a podcasting tool which you can basically use to look for any type of podcast and either stream it or save it to your phone for later listening. I can tell you the 3G network is super fast, podcasts buffer in about 5 seconds for 30 mins length podcasts.
A screen showing the different podcasts avaliable, overall I have to say there is quite an amazing range of podcasts, so fans of such technology will be in for a treat. The menu system and navgation is very fast on the Nokia n73.
Choosing a podcast gives you brief information on what its on, in this case I chose the daily podcast on tech news provided by cnet.
Upon selecting the podcast it gives you clear information on its length, date and size. In terms of downloading speed, as I have mentioned before this 6.3mb file buffered in about 5 seconds, obviously download would take longer. As you can see options for save file for later and favourites are also avaliable.
When you listen to the podcast you can contol everything using the keypad, this pic shows which keys are assigned!
